Simply put: this is a place for me to share my writing. I do post everything I write on other sites, as well, but this website serves as a central hub for all of my writing and an easy way to share my passion with everyone. But who am I?
To sum it up: writing is my passion. I love telling stories and building worlds filled with vivid imagery and alluring characters. If nothing else, I know you'll find something on this website to enjoy whoever you are... As long as you like reading.
I've grown up my entire life in Richmond, Virginia and have always harbored love and fascination for the arts. I love books, movies, video games, and studio arts like painting and drawing, but above all else, writing speaks to me in a language unlike anything else. For as long as I can remember, I have loved storytelling, but it wasn't until my latter years of high school that I realized the depth of my adoration.
After graduating from college with a degree in English and a minor in writing, I think my abilities are in a good place, but I know I can keep growing and getting better. If nothing else, I have learned that any artistic abilities are never done developing and I'm so excited to see how much better I can do with time, experience, criticism, and help from those around me.
High school introduced me to the art of writing poetry, but college brought out a completely new side of my creativity through short stories. Having played pretend as a child and later dedicated many hours to the freedom of Dungeons & Dragons, I had experience crafting stories and developing in-depth worlds, but I had never thought to put them all down on paper.
Now, I can't get enough. New world-building and character ideas pop into my head every day and I just don't have enough time to jot them all down or make anything more with them, but my passion fuels me and allows me to do what I love without getting sick of it which I feel incredibly fortunate for. I hope to write professionally some day and be able to support myself with my writing at least in part, and I know with how much I love it, I can do just that.
I am fortunate to have the support that I do from friends, family, coworkers, and the strangers who have kindly taken the time to check out my work. Without any of them, I wouldn't have as much fun doing it and couldn't call it a passion. Discovering this form of expression has truly changed my life and allowed me to realize my life's dream. I want to share my stories and characters with the world.
I have been in love with telling stories for as long as I can remember and have taken my writing seriously for almost a decade now. In that time, I have crafted my own style and worked to perfect it, yet I always learn new things with each project I work on. Writing within only one genre—whether in short stories or poetry—is something I try my best to avoid because I want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible and show that I am capable of producing enticing narratives that feel individualized while remaining in "my style." One of my goals is to be accepted in several different subsects of the writing world and blend the distinct audiences to whom my writing appeals to create one big family of readers and writers who can feel comfortable mixing and matching interests.
I love the challenge of subverting expectations and producing unpredictable plot lines that define my stories as mine. Whether a story is a single part or one piece of a bigger series, I give each tale an individual identity to make all of them fun and memorable. Short stories have defined my life for the past few years and have helped me discover what I really want to do with my life: create exciting stories for all to enjoy.
While recently less of a focus, poetry opened the doors to writing and introduced me to forms that allowed me to express my feelings and ideas in ways I never thought to before. The craft allows me to be expressive while also just having fun and whether I'm pouring my heart onto the paper or just rambling about something that piques my interest, poetry shapes my thoughts into something others can engage with.
I'd love to hear about your experience with my website and my stories, so please send me a message and I'll be sure to get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your support!
